Firewood Processor Operator (Trainee)

The immediate opportunity is to receive 5 to 10 days of paid training – working as part of a work crew and processing the logs salvaged from the Three Nations Energy Solar Farm to produce firewood. This work will be scheduled from October 2020 to December 2020, with exact schedule to be determined once workers are confirmed. This work will position the trainees for ongoing work with Three Nations Energy in the future.

General Responsibilities:

  • Operating the firewood processor to cut and split firewood
  • Handling logs to guide them from the in-feed table to the firewood processor
  • Operating a chainsaw to cut logs into manageable lengths for loading onto the in-feed table
  • Conducting daily inspection, cleaning, and basic maintenance of the firewood processor
  • Cleanup of sawdust, chips, and debris from the work site
  • Follow all worksite safety procedures
  • May involve driving a truck with dump trailer to deliver cut firewood

Job Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be physically fit
  • Ability to lift heavy objects
  • Experience operating a chainsaw would be an asset
  • Experience operating and maintaining small engines would be an asset
  • Class 5 driver’s license would be an asset
  • All candidates must have their own steel-toed boots and work gloves. Eye and ear protection will be provided.

FireSmart Team Members (Various Positions)

Three Nations Energy is proud to be selected by Alberta Forestry to complete FireSmart Community Protection Vegetation Management in Allison Bay. We will conduct tree thinning, pruning, removing dead and downed timber and salvaging merchantable timber for productive use.

We require multiple positions for this project and potential future FireSmart projects:

  • FireSmart Crew Supervisor
  • FireSmart Crew Chainsaw operator (Faller Level)
  • FireSmart Crew Chainsaw operator (Bucker Level)
  • FireSmart Crew Member (Labour)

General Responsibilities:

  • Operating power saw, falling and bucking.
  • Preparing woody debris piles for disposal and salvage.
  • Removing/pruning trees up to 6 ft from the ground.
  • Cleaning the forest floor from dead/fallen timbers to remove surface fuels.

Job Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be physically fit.
  • Experience operating a chainsaw. Level 2-3 (faller & bucker level).
  • Class 5 driver’s license would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of FireSmart an asset but not required.
  • Previous experience with FireSmart an asset.
  • Supervisory experience required (for Supervisor position).
  • First Aid is considered an asset.
  • All candidates must have their own steel-toed boots and work gloves. Eye and ear protection will be provided.

Hydroponics Growcer Assistant, K’ai Tailé Market, Fort Chipewyan, AB.

  • Selection Process Number:  ACFN/KTM-2020-002.
  • 2-4  Permanent Part-time roles available; and up to 15 to 22.5 hours per week.
  • 1-2 years of hydroponic or green house experience is an asset.
    • Training will be provided.
  • This is a local position to Fort Chipewyan, AB.
